There are more than 10 professional and technical personnel in the Institute of Dynamics and Control at present, including 5 professors (2 doctoral supervisors) and 3 associate professors. Over 90% of them have overseas experience or doctoral degrees. One person is awarded as "Excellent Talent of the Education Ministry in the New Century ". One youth backbone and one academic leader are titled for the provincial "Blue Project". One person is the editorial board member of journal "Vibration and Shock". One joins the standing committee of Nonlinear Vibration in Vibration Engineering Society of China (VESC). Two personnel are committee members of General Mechanics in Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM).
Recently, the institute has undertaken one key project of National Natural Science Foundation, 15 surface and youth projects of National Natural Science Foundation, and a number of provincial projects. Over 200 research papers (including 150 SCI papers) are published in domestic and foreign journals, such as "Nonlinear Dynam.","Phys. Rev. E", "Int. J. Nonlin. Mech.", "Int. J. Bifurcat. Chaos" and "Science of China”, etc. There are three published teaching material monographs and a third prize of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province.
After years of construction, three stable research directions have been formed, which are at the forefront of the discipline:
(1) Complex dynamic behaviors of multi-scale systems;
(2) Complex dynamic behaviors of non-smooth systems;
(3) Complex dynamic behaviors of switching system.
The institute pays attention to the cultivation of international talents, and has established long-term cooperative relation with more than 10 overseas universities, including Liverpool University, Humboldt University of Berlin, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, New York University, Potsdam University of Germany, etc. Internationally renowned experts are often invited to give lectures for postgraduate students, such as Jurgen Kurths, Pei Yu, and C.W. Lim. Master and doctoral students are often sent abroad for further study. With rich talent training achievements, the institute has a certain influence in the domestic field of dynamics and control.
