Construction management institute (CMI) is a Cross-disciplinary research institution covering Civil construction, management science and construction, urban-rural planning, geographical science, environmental system analysis, safety science and construction, computer science and technology.
CMI was taking sustainable development based on the exploration of construction safety, smart construction and urban resilience as the entry point, significantly fundamental and commonweal technology problems in construction management and urban environment as the focus, increasing independent innovation and cross-disciplinary research ability as the principle goal, insisting the concept of “embracing, stretching and integrating”, Construction management institute is pursuing to establish a force to lead, serve and support construction and healthy city.
Currently, CMI has carried out series of researches. Main researches are as follows: Cognitive neuroscience and construction safety management, urban planning and environmental systems analysis, response of city planning to climate change, climate change and urban health, the remote sensing inversion and recognition of city fragility to extreme climate disasters, resilient city model development, intelligent construction monitoring system based on computer vision, secondary development and integration of construction information model, artificial intelligence application in civil construction based on wireless sensor network, virtual reality simulation and the intelligent analysis system based on the construction.
Recent years, construction management institute has undertaken many national, provincial and ministerial projects, including NSFC (Natural Science Foundation of China), national sci-tech support plan, education ministry project, environmental protection project, natural science and social science foundation in Jiangsu province. Construction management institute also forms special and leading-edge cross-disciplinary researches in safe construction behavior, smart construction and urban resilience. Meanwhile, construction management institute has made great contribution in social service works, consisting of whole project consultation, Real estate development management and smart site construction.
CMI has abundant equipment. Autodesk BDS flagship and advanced edition, STATA, GIS and remote sensing software used for urban planning and environmental system analysis are avaiinstitutele. And the large database of Climate change and urban basic information database has been established. It is also avaiinstitutele for new high-tech devices, including High-performance 3D projector, 3D camera, VR equipment, professional aerial photography uav, integrated building environment tester, desktop graphics workstation and mobile graphics workstation.
CMI independently and cooperatively developed the virtual simulation experiment teaching system of prefabricated building construction and safety management, which is able to build and demonstrate construction information model, Immersive construction simulation, visual analysis of construction scheme, 3D reconstruction of construction scene, remote demonstration of construction site. All projects above are open to undergraduates, providing platforms for them to carry science and technology innovation activities.
CMI has established long-term scientific research cooperation with many world renowned universities and institutions, including national information and communication technology center (ICT) of Australian national university, MIT's Senseable City Institute, the Bartlett of university college London (UCL), faculty of environment and technology in Brighton university, the world bank, Asian development bank, urban planning institute of South Korea Seoul national university (SNU) , urban planning institute of university of Tokyo (UTokyo).
