After the half-month military training, an opening ceremony was held by our faculty at the lecture hall onSep.23rdto give warm welcome to 242 freshmen. Dean Prof. Ying Luo, chairman of faculty affairs committee Hong Zhang, PhD supervisors, directors of our two departments, and study instructors attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by deputy chairman of faculty affairs committee Quan Chen.
At the beginning, Dean Prof. Luo gave an opening speech and showed warm welcome and best wishes to our freshmen. He hoped all the students can have a brand-new beginning and experience a fresh and enthusiastic campus life in our University and Faculty. Then, teacher representative Dr. Zhou shared his life feelings with teachers and students present. He encouraged students to keep confident and brave, cherish the time in university.
After that, Prof. Jianguo Zhu, associate Prof. Chuanxun Li, and Dr. Yu Han introduced the disciplines and majors in engineering mechanics, civil engineering and project management respectively, which let all the freshmen have a great harvest.
As the end of the ceremony, Zhang Hong concluded the whole ceremony, hoping all the students can learn how to communicate and think independently, highlighting the spirit of faculty motto “striving for excellence and far-reaching”.
Considered as the first lesson of students’ entrance education, the opening ceremony helps new students to learn and adjust to college life, as well as clearing goals and making solid foundations for the following work.
