I would also like to give my sincere gratitude to all of the OEC and ourfaculty members who have devoted themselves to the sound growth of our students.
Four years ago, with the dreams of youthand wonderful aspirations to university life, and the interest in China andChinese culture, you gathered in Jiangsu University. You spent your gorgeous youth time, from all around the world to here, learning knowledge, cultivating your mindand spirits, and strengthening your abilities. It can be said that your understanding and support are indispensable to the international development and expansion of our faculty even the whole university. The diversified and colorful campus culture cannot be developed without your participation. Our faculty thanks you and will always be proud of you.
What’syour value of life? Many students expect to get answers from university yearbooks and various commencement speeches. However, I would like to focus onthe reasons why you come to these questions, rather than giving answers to them. You constantly worry about the values of life. You want to get a well-paid job,but have been worried about the self-accomplishment from it. You want to chase your dreams, pursue your study or scientific research, or (you want)to be a volunteer, but have been worried about whether you can be survive depend on it. You wish to not just to be successful in life, but also a worthwhile life. You are cultivated by higher education, which will not only lead a comfortable life, but make the world around to be gorgeous. You will eventually regret if you didn’t pursue something you hold to be meaningful, because meaning is what brings the real richness to your life. Please follow your feelings. If it feels right, move forward.
After graduation, most of you will leave China and come back to your countries. You will say goodbye to your teachers and schoolmates who accompanied you days and nights. Moreover, you will start your new journey, full of hope and challenge, also countless hardship and temptation. Firstly, I hope all of you can rememberour faculty’s motto “far reaching”, set up a profound ideal and try to be atalent. “Where there is a will, there is a way”. Secondly, I hope all of youcan be brave to face the competition and welcome the challenge. “Survival ofthe fittest”. The victory flowers are only for the brave soldiers. Thirdly, please always have the spirits of love and gratitude. Thank your family for guiding you to this moment. Thank your teachers for showing you a new world. Thank your friends for exploring that world together. Finally, I extremely hopeall of you can introduce our Chinese culture to people in your country, help more foreigners know China and Chinese culture, and thus come to our university to pursue his/her study.
