On the afternoon of May 14th, 2015, Second academic report was successfully held in this academic month by our faculty in the third lecturehall. The second report was delivered by Prof. Rongui Liu and Prof. Qinsheng Bi.

Firstly, Prof. Liu introduced the achievements in scientific research conducted by their team in recent years. Afterwards, Prof. Liuintroduces some application of engineering philosophy: construction of nationaltelecommunication network project, the cross river bridge construction projectand the high-speed railway project. He pointed out that the engineeringphilosophy is a reasonable way to deal with the relationship among science, technologyand engineering. He proposed that teachers and students shall use engineeringphilosophy to do well in the "University" project.

Secondly, Prof. Qinsheng made interesting report in the aspectsof multi-scale effect of linear system, the complexity of nonsmooth system andbifurcation mechanism. He introduced complex mechanical behavior that two timescale nonlinear system produced under different conditions and then gave variousdifferent silent and excited system state and different models that arepossible to exist separately. Finally, he discussed different phenomenabursting after the two states interacted with each other as well as allbifurcation models during the process.

After the report, Prof. Liu and Prof. Bi conducted further communication with present teachers and students. Their academic speeches inspired the teachers and students a lot.
