In order to stimulate students' interest in scientific research, our faculty invited Prof. Biaozhong Zhuang, from Zhejiang university, to give an academicreport entitled “How to use the knowledge about engineering mechanics to do innovation activities” for our undergraduate and graduate students. The report was hostedby Deputy Dean Prof. Baocang Sun.

At the beginning of the report, Dean Prof. Ying Luo showed warmly welcome to Prof. Biaozhong Zhuang on the behalf of faculty. He strengthened the importance of mechanics in the development of engineering science and student's innovation activities. Then Prof. Zhuang displayed the concept "basic mechanics isuseful, innovation is near" through concrete examples and his own experience. By showing a lot of real images, video, and teaching tools, he vividly demonstrated the engineering mechanics in the application of our life,including production, education and scientific research, etc. The entire report was very successful and received warm applause.

By listening to the report, teachers and students broadened their horizons and improve the awareness of the innovation, which was really helpful in the future.
