Before the new semester began, our Faculty visited Ningbo University and related enterprises, and held annual faculty strategic seminar with the theme of "emancipating the mind, Grasping the nettle and seeking common development" in the School of Mechanical Engineeringand Mechanics. All the faculty were present.

The seminar was divided into 4 agendas--study and communication, keynotespeech by school leaders, group discussion and summary meeting. At thebeginning, Jianke Du, dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics,introduced some inspiring achievements in disciplines, scientific research,teaching, personnel, management, student affairs and so on, especially ondiscipline construction which closely attached to theoretical forefront andlocal special needs.. Teachers from the two colleges communicated heatedly about opportunities and challenges faced in the developing process, and thuswere all inspired and encouraged.

During the leaders’ speech, our dean Ying Luo gave a brief review about the work of discipline construction and graduate education, scientific research, teaching, the quality of teaching staff, international exchange, the student affairs. During group discussion, teachers discussed about our faculty's teaching, scientific research and construction ofteaching staff, concentrating on the weakness of recruiting top talents and improving the quality of cultivating talents which constrained the development of the faculty and tried to seek solutions to such problems. At the summary meeting, several teachers put forward the opinions and suggestions.

At last, Hong Zhang, Chairman of Faculty Affairs Committee conveyed suggestions about the development of faculty from Prof. Ronggui Liu, the former Chairman of our faculty, and made the closing speech.

The seminar achieved expected effects to further improve our quality of talents cultivation, break development bottleneck of disciplines, and promote the development of the faculty transformation
