The Institute of Structural Engineering of Jiangsu University is mainly engaged in the research of basic performance of concrete structures, high-performance FRP materials and their applications, evaluation of collapse resistance of steel frame structures, and technical service topics of various construction companies. There are 17 teachers in the Institute, including 4 professors, 6 associate professors, 12 PhD supervisors and master guides. The backbone teachers have obtained doctoral degrees in well-known universities in China. Teachers have a strong level of teaching and research, and have emerged a number of outstanding talents such as the “six talents peak” high-level talents in Jiangsu Province, the special professors in Jiangsu Province, and the young academic leaders of the school. Through the unremitting efforts of the team, the structural engineering discipline of our school has a certain influence in China, especially in the aspects of durability of marine prestressed concrete structures, carbon fiber CFRP cable prestressed concrete structures (especially bridge structures), etc. The results have certain comparative advantages and characteristics in China; at the same time, the relevant research results have been carried out in typical projects (such as Ning'an High-speed Railway Engineering, Nanjing Youth Olympic Engineering, etc.). The monograph "Durability of Modern Prestressed Concrete Structures" was published by the Science Publishing Fund of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; the first CFRP cable-stayed bridge in China was built in Jiangsu University.
Research directions:
(1) Calculation theory and durability of modern prestressed concrete structures;
(2) High performance CFRP cable structure and anchor system;
(3) Calculation theory of FRP reinforced concrete structure;
(4) Design method for evaluation of continuous collapse of steel frame structures.
