On the morning of Sep. 26, our faculty held an opening ceremony to welcome more than two hundred freshmen. Dean Prof. Ying Luo, chairman of faculty affairs committeeHong Zhang, PhD supervisors, directors of our two departments, and study instructors attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by deputy chairman of faculty affairs committee Quan Chen.

Firstly, Dean Prof. Ying Luo made the opening speech and represented the faculty to express awarm welcome to our freshmen. And then he encouraged students to be themselvesafter giving the answers to several questions. In order to live up to the aim,every student should live independently, be good at thinking independently and develop independent personalities. At last, he wished that all the freshmen cherishtime in Jiangsu University.

Then, associate prof. Jie Yin, on the behalf of teachers made a speech. He combined his learning and growth experiences to encourage students to take full use of time,learn their professional subjects well and meet their university life with full positive attitude. After that, associate prof. Jianguo Zhu, associate prof. Chunhua Lu, and Dr. Yu Han introduced the disciplines and majors in details including engineering mechanics, civil engineering andproject management, which let all the freshmen have a great harvest.

At last, ZhangHong, chairman of faculty affairs committee, gave a summary. She extremely hoped that every student can cherish the opportunities of learning, obey the school motto and the faculty motto and shoulder the mission and responsibilities to becomea useful person in the future.

As the most importantcourse in the entrance education, opening ceremony is to help freshmen to adaptto the university life faster and better, to learn about their majors, to definite their learning goals and to lay a solid foundation for the future study.
