On March 25th 2015, Prof, Zengtao Chen, from the University of Alberta, was invited to our faculty to give a lecture entitled “Non-fourier heat conduction in solid” in conference room 210 of our faculty. The report washosted by our dean Prof. Ying Luo, and many faculties and students attended thelecture.
At the beginning, Prof. Ying Luo gave a briefintroduction to Prof. Chen as well as his research background, presented warmwelcome on behalf of the whole faculty.
After that, Prof. Chen firstly introduced two kinds ofheat conduction theory: fourier heat conduction theory and non-fourier heat conduction theory. He further demonstrated the non-fourier heat conductiontheory and its potential practical value, such as the rapid solidification ofmetals, the temperature control of laser superconductors, cryosurgery, lasersurface heat treatment, all of which made fourier conduction model increasinglybecome the study hotspot. Afterwards, Prof. Chen introduced non-Fourier heatconduction theory in the application of thermal stress analysis and the correspondingtransient thermal response, giving a detailed theoretical analysis system andthe analysis of several examples.

After the meeting, someteachers exchanged their views with Prof. Chen. His depth of the research and innovationreceived widely high praise.
