The 2023 International Symposium on Progress in Bridge Structural Health Management (ISPBSHM 2023), the seventh edition of the conference, was successfully held at our university's library auditorium on November 19-20, 2023. The academic event drew the participation of over 200 attendees, both online and offline.

The symposium was organized by Jiangsu University, National Center for International Research on Structural Health Management of Critical Components supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Mechanics Society of Jiangsu Province. The event was co-hosted by the Structural Health Management Research Institute of Jiangsu University, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of Jiangsu University, and the Equipment Structural Health Monitoring and Warning Branch of the Instrument and Instrumentation Society of China. Professor Luo Ying, the director of the International Joint Research Center, served as the chair of the organizing committee. Distinguished experts from around the world were invited to share their outstanding achievements in various cutting-edge areas of bridge health management. The featured topics included contact/non-contact data acquisition, massive data processing analysis and applications, new technologies in damage detection, digital twins, and more. Among the notable experts were Professor Fuh-Gwo Yuan from North Carolina State University, Professor Alfredo Güemes, Professor Antonio Fernández-Lopez from Madrid Polytechnic University, Researcher Zhang Yufeng from SuZhou Communication Science Group Co., Ltd., Professor Zhang Dongsheng from Shanghai University, Professor He Qiang from the Civil Aviation Flight University of China, and Professor Zhu Jianguo from Jiangsu University.

Since its inception in 2017 with the first International Symposium on "Structural Health Management of Key Equipment," this series of conferences has become an annual event. The seventh edition marked a significant increase in its international influence.

The symposium provided a platform for interdisciplinary discussions, collaboration, and exchange of ideas, especially benefiting domestic scholars and young researchers. It offered an opportunity to explore the latest developments, emerging trends, and applications in the field of bridge structural health management. The event aimed to advance the interdisciplinary application of international structural health management and enhance the influence of our university's mechanics discipline both nationally and internationally.
