The Institute of Structural Health Management is a full-time scientific research institution affiliated to The School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of Jiangsu University. The institute was approved to be established in May 2016. Currently, it has 10 full-time staff, including 5 professors, 3 associate professors and 2 lecturer. Including machinery industry technology innovation leading talent 1, Jiangsu province 333 talents 1, Jiangsu Province six peak talents 3. There are 15 part-time researchers, including 5 professors and 8 associate professors.
The institute with "geared to the needs of modern large-scale engineering structures, new type of composite material structure, the micro/nano materials and structure" as the guiding ideology, to "intelligent monitoring theory and technology, nondestructive testing technology and characterization method, across the scale mechanics theory" as the basic direction, will be based on the mechanics of discipline construction structural health management institute across physical, material, machinery and civil engineering set "research, learning and production" as one of the research center. At present, the institute has three main research directions:
1.Intelligent health monitoring and detection for critical structure damage of high-end equipment;
2.Damage and fracture mechanics of composite structure;
3.Physical mechanics of materials and structures across scales.
The institute has 15 projects at and above the provincial and ministerial level, including 7 national projects, including 1 key project. The application has been approved by the national platform "International Cooperative Research Center for high-end Equipment Critical Structure Health Management”. Relying on the first-level provincial key discipline of Jiangsu Province - mechanics discipline, it has the first-level doctoral program of "mechanics" and the post-doctoral mobile station.MTS testing machine, laser Doppler vibration detector, ultrasonic phased array testing instrument, 3D digital image testing instrument, infrared thermal imaging instrument and other important equipment.
